Barrel age your homebrewed beer with real bourbon barrel chunks from St. Augustine Distillery, trimmed to fit through the neck of a carboy or the lid for The Catalyst Fermentation System. Whether you are brewing 1 gallon or 5 gallons of beer, we've portioned out the appropriate number of bourbon barrel chunks to recreate real barrel aged flavor.

HOW-TO bourbon barrel age your homebrew:

1. Brew & begin fermenting your beer as usual. The barrel will be added to your fermenter after 10 days of fermentation.
2. You’ll need to sanitize the bourbon barrel chunks before use. To sanitize, you can use 1 of 2 techniques. Choose the one that best fits your finished beer:
A. For a more subtle flavor, sanitize the barrel pieces by toasting the oak in the oven at 200 *F for 15 minutes before adding.
OR
B. Sanitize the barrel pieces by soaking in bourbon (just a few ounces) for at least 2 days before adding the barrel pieces AND the bourbon to the fermenter.
3. Age your beer on the bourbon barrel chunks for 10 - 30 days before bottling. The longer you age, the more pronounced the barrel aged flavor will be.
