Looking for yeast to ferment a high gravity beer? Try SafBrew HA-18 Yeast, a powerful yeast and enzyme combination thatβs perfect for producing high gravity, and particularly high alcohol beers up to 18% ABV! This is a 25g packet intended for use in a 5 gallon batch of beer.
SafBrew HA 18 is ideal for strong, high density beer styles like barley wines, strong ales and barrel aged beers. It is an all in one product that consists of both POF+ (Phenolic Off Flavor Positive) yeast and enzymes. POF+ yeast creates clove or spicy flavor.
SafBrew HA-18 Yeast exhibits high attenuation (98-102%), meaning the yeast and enzymes consume 98-102% of the sugars in the wort to produce higher alcohol content. The enzymes in HA 18 Yeast convert non-fermentable sugars, more complex sugars into fermentable sugars. Those sugars are consumed by the yeast to create alcohol.
This solution exhibits very good resistance to osmotic pressure - something that usually makes yeast more sluggish - and thrives in high fermentation temperatures between 77 - 95ΒΊF.

High Gravity Beers, including Strong Ale, Barleywine, Barrel Aged Beer & more.
Brew bold, high-gravity beers with SafBrew HA-18 Yeast, a specialized yeast and enzyme blend designed for extreme fermentation conditions. This 25 g format supports batches up to 5 gallons and enables alcohol levels up to 18% ABV, delivering dry, powerful beers with depth and complexity even under high sugar and heat stress.
SafBrew HA-18 is intended for brewers producing strong ales, barleywines, and barrel-aged styles where full attenuation and fermentation reliability are critical. The integrated enzyme system enhances fermentability, allowing the yeast to process complex sugars efficiently and complete fermentation in high-gravity worts.
This strain delivers very high attenuation in the range of approximately 98 to 102 percent and performs best within a warm fermentation temperature range of 77 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. It is thermotolerant and resistant to osmotic pressure, supporting consistent performance in demanding brewing environments.
For best results, rehydrate the yeast according to manufacturer recommendations before pitching. Adequate oxygenation and yeast nutrient use are recommended, particularly for high-gravity fermentations, to support healthy yeast activity and complete attenuation.
Produced to professional brewing standards, SafBrew HA-18 Yeast provides a dependable solution for brewers seeking controlled, high-performance fermentation for strong and specialty beer styles.
