Fermentation Temp Range
Each yeast strain has a temperature range where it performs best. Lagers require cooler temps, while Kveik yeasts can ferment in extreme heat. Maintaining the proper fermentation temperature for each yeast strain is crucial its health. Matching a yeast's ideal range to your environment (or your ability to control temp) is key to getting clean, consistent results.

Description

Looking for extra yeast for homebrewing beer? Try SafLager S-189, a Swiss yeast strain for a variety of lagers.

SafLager S-189 originates from Switzerland's Hürlimann brewery. This yeast strain is great for crafting elegant lagers with high drinkability & fairly neutral flavor. Depending on fermentation conditions, SafLager S-189 can exhibit herbal and floral notes.

This yeast thrives in a fermentation temperature range of 53.6 - 64.4ºF. This is higher than typical lager strains, making it easier to ferment lagers at home without specialty temperature control gear.

Consider SafLager S-189 for your next Czech Pilsner, Helles, Oktoberfest, Bock or lager of any type! It sediments quite fast resulting in good clarity.

This active dry yeast does not require hydration or a yeast starter to begin fermentation. But if you want to reduce lag phase and grow yeast cell count, consider our Yeast Starter Kit. This 11g packet treats a 5 gallon batch of beer.
