Fermentation Temp Range
Each yeast strain has a temperature range where it performs best. Lagers require cooler temps, while Kveik yeasts can ferment in extreme heat. Maintaining the proper fermentation temperature for each yeast strain is crucial its health. Matching a yeast's ideal range to your environment (or your ability to control temp) is key to getting clean, consistent results.

Description

Looking for extra yeast for homebrewing beer? Try our Lager Yeast, a strain used in our Light Craft Lager Home Beer Brewing Kit. A pre-measured 2 gram packet ferments 1 gallon of beer.

Our Lager Yeast comes from Weihenstephan in Germany, and is used world wide. It produces beers with a balance of floral and fruity aromas and with clean flavors for incredibly drinkable beers. This lager yeast is very similar to SafLager W-34/70 German Lager Dry Yeast.

This Lager Yeast is different from other ale yeasts. It thrives in cooler fermentation temperatures. This particular strain can tolerate warmer fermentations (up to 72 °F), but performs best in a fermentation temperature range of 53 - 64 °F.

Our active dry yeasts do not require hydration or a yeast starter to begin fermentation.
