Fermentation Temp Range
Each yeast strain has a temperature range where it performs best. Lagers require cooler temps, while Kveik yeasts can ferment in extreme heat. Maintaining the proper fermentation temperature for each yeast strain is crucial its health. Matching a yeast's ideal range to your environment (or your ability to control temp) is key to getting clean, consistent results.

Description

Looking for extra yeast for homebrewing beer? Try Safale BE-256 Belgian Ale Dry Yeast, a strain used for Belgian ales & strong ales.

This is the same yeast packet included in our 5 gallon Belgian Beer Recipe Kits: Belgian Abbey Dubbel and Golden Strong Ale

Safale BE-256 Belgian Ale Dry Yeast produces fruity character and high alcohol content. This yeast can tolerate higher alcohol levels. It ferments quickly and adds aromatics to the finished beer.

This yeast strain thrives in a fermentation temperature range of 59 - 68°F and tends to produce fruitier flavor at higher fermentation temperatures.

It is an ideal yeast for Belgian beers, including Belgian blonds, trappist beers, dubbels, quads and strong ales.

This active dry yeast does not require hydration or a yeast starter to begin fermentation. If you want to reduce lag phase and grow yeast cell count, consider our Yeast Starter Kit. This 11g packet treats a 5 gallon batch of beer.
