This White House Honey Ale 5 Gallon beer recipe kit helps you brew a clean, smooth American honey ale using the officially released White House recipe, ready to drink in about four weeks.
Makes 5 gallons (approximately 48–54 bottles) of White House Honey Ale
Ready to drink in about 4 weeks
American-style honey ale
Designed for adding your favorite honey
Driest of the four, honey as aroma
Honey ferments almost completely away, so the optional pound lifts the alcohol and dries the beer rather than sweetening it. US-05 leaves less behind than anything else here, so the honey reads as aroma over a crisp, clean finish.
Ferment at 64-79°F
Attenuation 78-82%
Flocculation Medium
Clean and neutral
Malt and honey, nothing else
This is a simple recipe by design, and Flagship keeps it that way, adding nothing while the Goldings, Fuggle and Crystal malt do the work. It finishes with a fuller body than US-05, which gives the honey something to sit on. It clears slowly.
Ferment at 60-72°F
Attenuation 73-77%
Flocculation Low-Medium
Extremely clean
Fullest and maltiest, crystal clear
This leaves the most malt of the four, so the beer finishes rich and properly malty, and the honey character sits on a much sweeter base. Very high flocculation gives you a brilliantly clear glass. A warm rest at the end helps it finish all the way.
Ferment at 65-68°F
Attenuation 63-70%
Flocculation Very High
Sweet, malty, very clear
Malty, and closer to an English bitter
1968 leaves real malt sweetness behind, which turns the recipe into something nearer a bitter with honey than a light American ale. It drops bright fast, so the beer looks the part early. It appreciates a diacetyl rest before packaging.
Ferment at 64-72°F
Attenuation 67-71%
Flocculation High
Malty and sweet finishing

Flavor Profile & Beer Style
The White House Honey Ale is a clean, smooth American-style ale with subtle malt sweetness and gentle hop balance. Honey contributes light floral character and a soft, rounded finish without overpowering the base beer.
Balanced bitterness and restrained malt make this ale approachable and refined, resulting in a beer that’s easy drinking and well suited for a wide range of palates.

How the Brewing Process Works
Brewing your White House Honey Ale follows a straightforward process designed to keep the beer clean and balanced:
Brew: Steep specialty grains, boil the wort, and add hops
Ferment: Ferment with ale yeast until clean and stable
Honey Addition: Add honey during fermentation as instructed
Enjoy: Ready to drink in about 4 weeks
This process keeps the base beer smooth and lets the added honey complement the malt without overpowering it.
New to Liquid Yeast?
Liquid yeast can deliver excellent fermentation performance and a wider range of strain options, but it’s a living, perishable product that requires a little extra care.
Liquid yeast may arrive warm. Ice packs help reduce heat exposure but do not guarantee cold arrival.
Refrigerate it when received and plan to brew as soon as possible.
We recommend adding an insulated mailer + ice pack to liquid yeast orders.
During May–September, dry yeast is strongly recommended due to higher shipping temperatures.
Liquid yeast is final sale and cannot be replaced due to heat exposure during transit.
