This Hoppy Wheat 5 Gallon Beer Recipe Kit helps you brew a bright, sessionable wheat ale with tropical hop flavor, smooth mouthfeel, and a golden haze that’s ready to drink in about four weeks.
Makes 5 gallons (approximately 48–54 bottles) of Hoppy Wheat
Ready to drink in about 4 weeks
Hoppy wheat ale with tropical hop character
Easy-drinking, low-ABV profile
Driest, and the dry hops lead
This is a small beer carrying an enormous dry hop charge, and US-05 makes the most of it. It finishes drier than anything else on this list and stays out of the way, so the Citra and Amarillo are the flavor. Clean, quick, uncomplicated.
Ferment at 64-79°F
Attenuation 78-82%
Flocculation Medium
Clean and neutral
Soft wheat, loud hops
Flagship stays quiet and lets the Citra and Amarillo do everything, while the wheat gives the beer a soft, rounded base underneath. It is steady and undemanding as long as the room does not get hot.
Ferment at 60-72°F
Attenuation 73-77%
Flocculation Low-Medium
Extremely clean
More body for a small beer
A light beer takes all the body it can get, and 1056 leaves more behind than US-05. Ferment it cool and a soft citrus note comes through that runs with the Citra and Amarillo. It is a slow settler.
Ferment at 60-72°F
Attenuation 73-77%
Flocculation Low-Medium
Clean and versatile
Turns this into a hazy pale
Pick Juice and the beer moves somewhere closer to a hazy pale ale, soft and cloudy with the Citra and Amarillo amplified. On a wheat base that softness is a natural fit. It rises hard and fast once it gets going.
Ferment at 64-74°F
Attenuation 72-76%
Flocculation Medium
Juicy and hazy

Flavor Profile & Beer Style
The Hoppy Wheat is a hop-forward wheat ale that delivers vibrant tropical notes of pineapple, grapefruit, and melon from late hop additions. A clean wheat base provides a creamy mouthfeel, while restrained bitterness keeps the beer balanced and easy drinking.
Bright golden haze and expressive hop aroma define this beer, making it a refreshing option for fans of both wheat ales and modern hop profiles.

How the Brewing Process Works
Brewing your Hoppy Wheat follows a hop-forward wheat ale brewing process:
Brew: Steep specialty grains, boil the wort, and add hops late in the boil to emphasize aroma
Ferment: Ferment with American ale yeast until clean and fully attenuated
Optional Step: Dry hop during fermentation to enhance tropical hop aroma
Enjoy: Ready to drink in about 4 weeks
Late hop additions and dry hopping help highlight bright hop flavor while maintaining a smooth wheat base.
New to Liquid Yeast?
Liquid yeast can deliver excellent fermentation performance and a wider range of strain options, but it’s a living, perishable product that requires a little extra care.
Liquid yeast may arrive warm. Ice packs help reduce heat exposure but do not guarantee cold arrival.
Refrigerate it when received and plan to brew as soon as possible.
We recommend adding an insulated mailer + ice pack to liquid yeast orders.
During May–September, dry yeast is strongly recommended due to higher shipping temperatures.
Liquid yeast is final sale and cannot be replaced due to heat exposure during transit.
Homebrewers who enjoy dry hopping without heavy bitterness
Drinkers who prefer light, refreshing beers with tropical notes
Because it’s brewed in larger volume, this kit is perfect for easy-drinking sessions, warm-weather sharing, and keeping a crowd-pleasing beer on tap.
